Undercoating

  • Why do we recommend this service?
    • To protect your vehicle from rust and corrosion
  • What does this do for my vehicle?
    • Extends the life of your vehicle
  • Why does undercoating have a bad rep?
    • In the 1980s many dealerships were “selling” undercoating at the delivery of new vehicles.  The coatings and process of performing this were never developed and it never lasted on those vehicles.  This gave undercoating a bad rep over time and many people decided against it.  (Jerry Seinfeld didn’t help the matter)
  • How long will it last?
    • This coating should last 10+ years or even the lifetime f the vehicle if cared for properly.  If the vehicle is off-road it would eventually be worn/chipped off.  For daily driven highway use this will last awhile
  • What are we doing differently than everyone else?
    • We use our state-of-the-art dryice cleaning machine to clean the vehicles prior to coating.  This gives us a nice clean prepped surface to apply the coating.  Other places might use a power washer or they are just spraying over dirt and grime which will never last over time. We take pride in our coatings and properly tape off the body and other sensitive components prior to application.
  • What is the difference in coatings?
    • There are three kinds of undercoating: oil-based, rubberized, and wax-type coatings.  Oil-based coatings offer protection for a limited amount of time.  Usually, these coatings are recommended for yearly applications.  Oil-based coatings tend to drip especially in warmer climates.  Rubberized coatings are usually the thickest coatings, these coatings can trap moisture and are not very attractive looking.  Lastly wax-based coatings, this is what we use in our shop.  This offers great protection that will last many years.  It will not drip like the oil and it doesn’t trap moisture like the rubber coatings.  In our opinion, this is the best option to protect a vehicle for long time use.
  • How long Does this procedure take for a vehicle?
    • The procedure takes about a day and a half to complete.  It is usually ready the following day at lunch.  We like to let the coating cure overnight inside our facility for the best results.
  • How much does it cost?
  • We are located in West Chester, Pa. which is located about 30 minutes outside of Philadelphia.  Give us a call for any questions or to book an appointment tel:610-431-8459
